Description
Where now stands the church of the Holy Spirit in 1500 there was a small chapel dedicated to St. Sophia.In 1613, the sailors built the existing congregation alongside a small hospital.
In 1652 the hospital and Chapel of St. Sofia were demolished, and a large church was built.
On the main altar stands a painting of "Pentecost" by Alfonso Of Spigna in 1768, the statue of St John Joseph of the Cross, Di Spigna paintings of De Matteis and Solimena.
